Flagship course

Signal Audit Desk

A three-week cohort for teams who need a written, defensible review of the signals living inside their fraud signal audit app.

Team collaborating with laptops in a bright office

Learning outcomes

  • Produce a complete signal inventory with owners and proof claims
  • Write failure-mode cards that name customer impact
  • Run a desk review and package findings for peer challenge
  • Defend at least one retirement or tightening with residual-risk language
  • Set a quarterly audit rhythm your team can keep without us

Who it suits

Fraud product managers, risk operations leads, and compliance engineers who share a live queue. Participants should be able to discuss redacted examples from their environment.

Informational price: £1,240 per Audit Desk Seat. See pricing for Lab Cohort and clinic alternatives. No payment is taken on this website.

Modules

  1. 01

    Inventory & ownership maps

Export or reconstruct every active signal. Assign owners. Flag orphans. Establish the evidence fields your fraud signal audit app must show.

  2. 02

    Proof claims & failure modes

Rewrite each rule as a claim a sceptic can test. Document how it fails open, fails closed, and whom that hurts.

  3. 03

    Desk review drills

Score sample alerts against your schema. Practise noting disagreement without collapsing into tribal preference.

  4. 04

    Finding packs

Assemble recommendations, residual risk, and open questions. Peer reviewers mark gaps before facilitators do.

  5. 05

    Defence & cadence

Present one change. Agree what you will stop measuring. Schedule the next audit before the cohort closes.

Rowan has led fraud operations reviews for United Kingdom payments and marketplace teams for over a decade. At Schema Designlab they focus on teaching writing discipline around signals — the unglamorous work that makes audits survivable.

Learner notes

Module 4’s finding-pack template replaced our internal slide ritual. Compliance finally stopped asking for “more colour” and started asking better questions about residual risk.

★★★★☆

Strong on taxonomy. I wanted more depth on vendor score overlays; facilitators were honest that it sits outside the core syllabus.

FAQ

Do I need access to a production fraud signal audit app?

You need enough visibility to discuss real patterns. Redacted exports or carefully anonymised screenshots are fine. We never ask for live credentials.

How large are cohorts?

Typically eight to fourteen people. Smaller groups get more airtime; larger ones are split for peer review.

What is a real limitation of this course?

Signal Audit Desk will not configure your vendor tools for you, and it will not certify regulatory compliance. If your organisation needs a formal independent audit opinion, hire an auditor — we teach the craft of preparing for that conversation, not the opinion itself.

Can we run this privately?

Yes. Lab Cohort delivery adapts exercises to your exports. See pricing and contact us with constraints.
